Northern Riverfront Marina & Hotel (NRMH) construction workers are making major progress on the marina being built on the Cape Fear River in downtown Wilmington. The bulkhead is nearly completed, which is located near Pharmaceutical Product Development (PPD), on the north end of downtown. Crews are digging a large hole that will eventually be 20 feet below the river, and construction will continue through the rest of the year on the boat slips. The marina will open for boats at the end of the year. The developer, Chuck Schoninger, feels the marina will help attract tourists to downtown Wilmington.
