According to the International Trade Administration, North Carolina merchandise exports rose to nearly $29 billion USD in 2012, up 6 percent over the prior year and setting an export record for the state. Key merchandise export categories for the state included chemicals, machinery manufactures, transportation equipment, computer and electronic products, and textiles.
